“In April of 2007, I decided to sell my dental practice. I spoke with a few dentists who had sold their practices, and received different recommendations of who to help me reach that goal. I spoke with two brokers who told me that their fee was 7% of the sale price of the practice. I then had a meeting with Jon Schatz who gave me all the information on how they evaluate each practice, and assist in the transition from me to the new owner. All the information sounded very reasonable, so the process was started.
The information needed for the evaluation takes a lot of time and effort, but in the end, gives a true value of what one has to sell. The beauty of it all, is that the evaluation is indisputable. This means that the buyer and the seller are both getting a fair deal, and the buyer knows exactly what he can expect in the way of income to meet his financial liabilities after the sale.
Jon Schatz is a very guiding factor throughout the process. He referred me to a tax attorney to handle the legal paper work regarding the sale, and did the same for the buyer. He also helped the buyer obtain financing through a bank that he has consistently used in the past. The buyer and the seller are equally valued in this transition process which is a win – win for all involved. The sale of my practice closed on 6/30/08. During this process of meeting with and interviewing potential buyers, Jon Schatz worked behind the scenes answering questions of the potential buyers, and all the questions that I had. My total cost for using Schatz and Company was $5,429. If I had used a broker, the cost would have been SIX times that amount, and the process would not have been as smooth for the buyer or for myself.
